Radio News January 2015
January twenty fifteen has been a very busy time for the operators and indeed all the services on Lake Taupo.
The STATS are as follows:
- Operator Volunteer Hours 170
- Calls logged 688
These stats are indicative of the hot dry month we experienced.
Wednesday the 7th saw Lake Taupo hit the headlines with the going down of the Sky Dive plane which came to rest in the lake at Waitahanui. This had an outstanding outcome with the rescue of all involved and later the recovery of the plane by the Harbour Master and his staff with the support of Coastguard.
Friday the 10th was marred with the loss of the link between Lake Taupo and CER which resulted in several more man hours being put in by our volunteers taking the watch, this also being reflected in the stats.
Monday the 26th we had a team BBQ at Ian and Janice Bowaters home. This was a great opportunity for us to put a face to the call signs that we operate under. As a result it has been decided that these social occasions will continue. The next meet will be a Mid Winter Pot Luck Dinner to be held at our home. More info will follow as the time nears.
Thanks again team your efforts don’t go unnoticed.
